MLP/BP-based Decision Feedback Equalizers with High Skew Tolerance in Band-Limited Channels

چکیده
A multi-layered perceptron neural network with backpropagation algorithm (MLP/BP) is realized as a waveform equalizer for distorted nonreturn-to-zero (NRZ) data recovery in band-limited channels. Moreover, the proposed approach can tolerate sampling clock skew and channel response variance. According to simulation results, the proposed design can recover severe distorted NRZ data with better performance than LMS DFEs in the band-limited channel that the data rate is ten times as much as the channel bandwidth. Under the 20% channel response variance and the 30% sampling clock skew, the proposed approach can provide an acceptable performance. Key-Words: Clock Skew, Decision-Feedback Equalizer (DFE), Intersymbol Interference (ISI), Multi-Layered Perceptron Neural Network with Backpropagation Algorithm (MLP/BP), Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE), and Nonreturn-to-Zero (NRZ).

Multi-Input Multi-Output MLP/BP-based Decision Feedback Equalizers for Overcoming Intersymbol Interference and Co-Channel Interference in Band-Limited Channels
This paper presents a multi-input multi-output (MIMO) multi-layered perceptron neural network with backpropagation algorithm (MLP/BP). The proposal is a waveform equalizer for distorted nonreturn-to-zero (NRZ) data recovery in band-limited channels with co-channel interference (CCI). From the simulation results, we note that the proposed design can recover severe distorted NRZ data as well as s...

The severely distorting channels limit the use of linear equalizers and the use of the nonlinear equalizers then becomes justifiable. Neural-network-based equalizers, especially the multilayer perceptron (MLP)-based equalizers, are computationally efficient alternative to currently used nonlinear filter realizations, e.g., the Volterra type. The drawback of the MLP-based equalizers is, however,...

For evaluating the performance of wireless digital communication system the most important part is the simulation of wireless channel, as whole performance of the system is depends upon it. The Band limited communication channel, due to its dispersive time response, may restrict the high data rate, due to Inter symbol Interference (ISI). If the ISI is not taken care off and compensated may caus...
متن کاملOn the Practical Aspects of Joint Passive Phase Conjugation and Equalization Underwater Communication Systems
Underwater acoustic communication systems suffer from the channel impairments which results in time spreading of the transmitted signal. In underwater environment, multiple replicas of the transmitted signal are received at the receiver through different paths, which causes significant Inter-Symbol Interference (ISI). Decision Feedback Equalizers (DFE) was utilized to overcome this type of inte...
متن کاملLow-Complexity Banded Equalizers for OFDM Systems in Doppler Spread Channels
Recently, several approaches have been proposed for the equalization of orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) signals in challenging high-mobility scenarios. Among them, a minimum mean-squared error (MMSE) block linear equalizer (BLE), based on a band LDL factorization, is particularly attractive for its good trade-off between performance and complexity. This paper extends this app...
